iTuesday Review: Find the Differences for iPhone
Remember that game you played as a kid where you looked at two seemingly identical pictures and tried to spot the differences? Well, that (like pretty much everything else) has made its way onto the iPhone. Find the Differences is an iPhone game that puts this classic game in your pocket.
The controls are as simple as you would expect. Tap the area of either picture where you notice a difference and a circle will appear around it. If you tap an incorrect area you lose time. There are three magnifying glasses at the top that will reveal “clues”. I put clues in quotation marks because “answers” would actually be a better description of what the magnifying glass does.
There are a few different game modes to play in: 3 differences, 5 differences and time trial. I think the differences in each mode are pretty self-explanatory.
First, here is what’s good about the game. The puzzles are difficult. The game was definitely not designed with kids in mind. Not to say that kids couldn’t play, but a lot of the differences are subtle, and take some time to identify. I also like that the puzzles are given in a random order. This means the next time you go to play it wont start with the same puzzle you played before. While there are bound to be repeats its nice that the puzzles don’t go in any certain order.
There is really only one thing that I don’t like about the game – the ads. Advertisements are the norm in free games, and that’s fine but the adds in this game actually disrupt the gameplay. Ads actually pop up as a notification in the middle of the game. This is pretty annoying, and I wish ads were handled differently.
Find the Differences is a nice casual game to play while your relaxing before bed, or as a time killer. It’s nothing that highly addicting or anything like that, but it’s free in the App Store, so no harm in checking it out. If this type of game really appeals to you, they also offer a pro version for $.99. Find the Difference Pro offers more puzzles and is ad-free.
