Everything announced during the Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase – October 2020
Nintendo featured a brand Direct Mini today focusing on new games coming to the Nintendo Switch. You can watch the direct below.
But if you don’t want to watch the whole thing, here is everything they announced during the presentation.
Bravely Default II
This was a title announced in a previous Nintendo Direct with no official release date, along with a demo that released March of 2020. Now the game has an official release date of 2/26/2021.
As far as presentation goes, it seems to be keeping to the a similar art style that was present on the 3DS. Personally I’ve never been able to get into turn based RPG’s so the Bravely series has never interested me much.
Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town
Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is set to release on the Nintendo Switch 3/23/2021.
Are you a fan of Harvest Moon style farming sims? Then this looks like the game for you. To me it just looks like another Harvest Moon/Stardew Valley clone. There isn’t wrong with that, but like Bravely Default, it isn’t anything that is going to get me super excited.
Surviving the Aftermath
Originally released in 2019 through Xbox Game Preview, this survival colony builder is making it’s way to the Nintendo Switch in Spring of 2021.
Yet another genre of games that isn’t quite my cup of tea. I did however watch a particular funny video over on Let’s Game It Out’s channel when he built his own colony of perpetual suffering.
Immortals Fenyx Rising
Immortals Fenyx Rising is set to release 12/3/2020.
Not only is this the first game featured in the presentation to have a 2020 release date, but it’s also the first game in the presentation to actually catches my interest. Now it is quite apparent that it features a lot of similarities to Breath of the Wild, but you know what I don’t give a crap. I loved Breath of the Wild so much that I’m always in favor of playing anything like it. Plus it looks to be doing enough different that it justifies the purchase for me
Should go without saying, but Breath of the Wild was an amazing title and I can’t wait for the sequel. Until then, I’ll have to settle for games like Genshin Impact and Immortals Fenyx Rising to tied me over.
Bakugan: Champions of Vestroia
Bakugan: Champions of Vestroia is launching on Nintendo Switch 11/3/2020.
I have nothing to add to this one because I know next to nothing about this franchise, nor will I pretend to know what I’m talking about by doing a quick Google search.
Griftlands: Nintendo Switch Edition
Griftlands is set to release on Nintendo Switch in the Summer of 2021.
This is an interesting game to me. Not because I have any real motivation to play it, but because of the simple fact that you can choose to fight enemies with either cards you collect, or just straight up fight with a strategic turn based battle system. Beyond that, not much else caught my eye.
Tropico 6
Tropico 6 is set to release on the Nintendo Switch 11/6/2020.
I’ve tried playing the Tropico games but their slow paced nature is a little to slow paced for my taste. But for fans of this series, they won’t have to wait much longer for this entry to release in about a week or so.
Hitman 3: Cloud Version
Hitman 3: Cloud Version is set to release on Nintendo Switch… soon. No official release has been announced for this game.
The older Hitman games never interested me much, but these newer ones have captured my attention. It’ll probably be a while before I get around to giving this series a go, but I am looking forward to it when that day comes.
Control Ultimate Edition: Cloud Version
Control Ultimate Edition: Cloud Version has received a shadow drop and is available to purchase today.
So… I have thoughts about this game, but I won’t get into them here. I’ll save it for when I do my review on this game, which will be coming out soon…
No More Heroes 1, 2, & 3
No More Heroes 1 & 2 were also shadow dropped and are available for purchase now. No More Heroes 3 on the other hand was given a release window of 2021.
No More Heroes was always one of those franchises I’ve wanted to play, but could never justify the purchase due to how crude the games are. Maybe someday I’ll get over my prudish nature, but that day is not today.
Part Time UFO
Part Time UFO marks the final shadow drop release of the presentation, and is, you guessed it, available now.
This looks to be an incredibly cutesy game, which doesn’t comes as any surprise from the people who made Kirby. Seems like a fun little puzzle game that I might get for my nieces to try, we will see.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will be releasing on 11/20/2020. However, a demo is available now for you to try out. The demo consists of the first chapter of the game and any progress you make will be carried over to the main game.
So many fans are up in arms over this game due to it have the “Hyrule Warriors” name attached to it, which is a shame because this genuinely looks to be a decent prequel game that acts as a good way to tied us over while we wait in heavy anticipation for Breath of the Wild 2.
