iTuesday Review: Precision for iPhone

Precision for iPhone is a pretty straightforward game. You have a number range, say between 1 and 50 and then have to slide an arrow to the number you are given. So say your given 25, you would have to move the arrow as close to the middle as possible. If your within a certain range of the number you were given you move on to the next round. After you lose a round you have to start over entirely, so it’s best to take your time and carefully place your arrow.

I’ll have to be honest when I say my first reaction to the game was negative. In fact if it wasn’t for the fact I had a review to write I probably would have called it quits early. It just seemed kind of stupid, why try to locate number 33 on a bar when I could be killing zombies or shooting birds at pigs? Precision just felt like a boring game.

However, once given a fair chance Precision is actually really addicting. It’s proof that even a simple idea can make a fun game when executed correctly. I often found myself losing, saying, “aw shit” and putting my phone back in my pocket only to take it out moments later to try to break my previous streak. I also believe this is the type of game that would become more fun if you had friends also playing. It has support for Game Center so it would be easy to tell what friends score you need to beat.

Precision for iPhone is available for $.99 in the app store. If you’re looking for a game that requires thought and is pretty addictive it might be worth the pricetag. It’s a good game to play to kill time during commercials or while waiting in line, but don’t expect to be hooked on it for hours.
