XBLIG Uprising Preview: Bruce Willis, is that you? Diehard Dungeon.
It’s time for an uprising of the gaming variety! Indie game fans and developers rejoice, for now is your time to RISE! Can you hear the chanting? Can you hear the cries? Can you hear the Batman? I’m kidding about that part… or am I?
We here at CBR have set out to provide you with exclusive coverage of the XBLIG uprising. From previews, to reviews, to fresh made cookies — I’m kidding, I’m terrible at baking — we’ll have everything you want from this year’s event
Founded by Toby Land in 2009, Tricktale games is all about bright, colorful, addictive games that you won’t ever want to put down. PyroManic — a puzzle game — and Vampire Rage — a frantic shooter — are two of the studio’s previous titles. Now before we jump into this new game I have to tell you: it’s not what it sounds like. It’s not Bruce Willis screaming “yippie kay yay mutha–” as he runs through a dark dungeon crawling with monsters. Or am I the only one who thought that?
All right, all joking aside, let’s talk about Tricktale’s newest indie game. Unlike the studio’s past titles, this one is all about dungeon crawling. Only a select few are fortunate enough to trek through the perils of the dark, dangerous dungeons. Did I say fortunate? It’s more like “unlucky sons of bees who will either die now, die later, and most definitely diehard.” There’s riches to discover, secrets to find, and multiple outcomes down each path you choose. But don’t get too comfortable with those winding roads, this game randomly generates dungeons, changing up the game each time you step back into it.
Take a deep breath and step into the world of “Diehard Dungeon,” where the dungeon you play through today will be nothing like the one you play through tomorrow.
