Today I played the one of the biggest waste of money released for the 3DS (so far).

Originally priced at $29.99, The Trash Pack video game is a tie-in to all those Trash Pack toys you’ve probably seen in stores or possibly the obsession of some mini-person in your life. A collection of mini-games really, The Trash Pack takes the various characters for the toy line and makes them into interactive games.

Well, four games. That’s right, $29.99 gets you a total of four mini-games. Four, very simple, very boring mini-games. Stuff like steering a dump truck left and right to collect falling garbage, or bouncing around collecting cans and avoiding flying garbage, or slingshotting garbage into the appropriately marked can… you get the picture. These are more “mini” and less game. The difficulty curve is also so low that only the youngest of fans (or possibly the slowest) will really get much enjoyment out of it.

There are really only two good things that can be said about The Trash Pack. The only reason this game gets a score above zero is that it actually does look pretty good, surprisingly. The bright vibrant colors really pop in the 3D mode and it is a shame that more games that play well don’t look this good. The only other redeeming quality is that the games aren’t broken. They aren’t fun to play by any means, but at least they work. That’s something right?

Yeah, just going to cut it short here. If you want an extremely poor collection of mini-games based on a children’s toy that amounts to about $5 per game, then go for it. If you value your money at all, then don’t.
