Backlog Quest: Day 1 – Cabela’s Dangerous Hunts 2011 – Awkward hunting is awkward

Dear Journal, Today I spent some time with my psychotic father hunting deranged animals all over the world. That is to say, what the hell did I just play? I had seen them in stores quite a bit, and there is no shortage of them, so I had wondered for quite some time just what these Cabela’s games had to […]

Backlog Quest: Day 0 – The Adventure Begins

Dear Journal, Today I realized I have a problem. How did this all begin anyway?  I suppose I have Cheap Ass Gamer to blame, at least in part.  At what point does a deal on a video game literally become so good that you can’t resist it?  Well, apparently, for me that point doesn’t take much. I mean, how did […]

Review: Jurassic Park – The Game

Life will find a way.  Whether you are referring to the constant biological urge all living things on the planet share to not only survive but to produce the next generation or the constant desire to milk a popular franchise for all it is worth, this statement rings true.  Jurassic Park is one of those franchises, even today there […]

Review: The Darkness II

Jackie Estacado is carrying a dark secret deep inside him, literally.  Since before the beginning of time, before there was light there was simply The Darkness and The Darkness doesn’t much care for the light. Review: Soul Calibur V

Soul Calibur is a franchise that I’ve been invested in for years. The characters. The story. The fighting and weapons. The cheap ring-outs — I’m looking at you, Nightmare. The chance to create fighting game versions of characters I love — why yes, that is Grell Sutcliff from Black Butler — Kuroshitsuji for the Japanese savvy. With the recent release of part five of the main series (not counting the side games on PSP and wii) the excitement made my very soul, well… burn!
